This decadent Double Chocolate Banana Bread is a guilt-free treat that can be enjoyed for breakfast or dessert! It’s super easy to make with pantry ingredients.

Starting the new year I always try to brainstorm lighter recipes and ideas to keep meals healthy but still fun! I don’t have a lot of banana fans at my house but something transforms them when they are paired with chocolate and baked into a sweet treat similar to my Heathy Baked Banana Bread Donuts. As usual, when I develop a banana recipe I had an abundance of bananas that needed to be used and I was really in the mood for brownies at the time so I morphed the 2 ideas and created this Double Chocolate Banana Bread Recipe! My boys go crazy for these recipes! I love that they’re packed with healthy ingredients that I can feel good about giving them and they are still a delicious treat!

Is Banana Bread Healthy?
There are many benefits to a homemade banana bread depending on the ingredients that you use. This particular recipe is healthy with the chosen ingredients:

- Banana’s are rich in vitamins are a great source of protein and they also help to regulate blood sugar.
- The wholegrain flour is rich in vitamins and magnesium. It is a good source of fiber and aids in digestion.
- Natural sweeteners like maple syrup are always a better choice over refined sugars.
- Healthy fats like almond butter and grass-fed butter are heart healthy and also stabilize blood sugar.
- Cacao is rich in iron, protein, magnesium potassium and fiber.

How to Store Leftover Double Chocolate Banana Bread
This recipe can be kept in a cool dry place in your kitchen for about 2 days in an airtight container. You can also store it in the refrigerator for a week if you prefer. You can also freeze it for 3 months. If I make a loaf to freeze, I like to pre-slice it so it’s easier to thaw a portion at a time.

I hope this recipe becomes a healthy family staple that your family gobbles up just like mine does! Enjoy!
